Ivory cacak originates from Bolivia, Northern Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru and is introduced in Assam, Bangladesh, Cameroon, Costa Rica, Cuba, Dominican Republic, Fiji, Guinea, Haiti, Jamaica, Solomon Islands, Trinidad-Tobago, Venezuelan Antilles, Vietnam . Gading cacak is widely planted as an ornamental plant in tropical areas and botanical gardens because of its striking leaves and bright, colorful flowers. Gading cacak also has potential in medicine by having antifungal and antibacterial activity.
Agroecology of Sanchezia oblonga
Many are found in wet habitats from sea level to around 200 m with warm temperatures and high water availability. It can grow both in open sunny areas and in shady areas in the understory of native and disturbed forests. It is also tolerant of saline conditions. Average annual temperature 15-35 ºC, Average annual rainfall 800- 3,000 mm.
