Kesum is a medicinal plant originating from Southeast Asia such as Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand and Vietnam. In Malaysia, this plant is a food additive most commonly used as “ulam�, a flavouring, and traditionally kesum is used to treat stomach aches or digestive disorders, as well as treating dandruff.
Agroecology of Persicaria minor
This plant grows in damp places near ditches, rivers and lakes as well as in cool, hilly places. In India and Sri Lanka, kesum is found at altitudes up to 800-900 m above sea level.
