Salacca zalacca Distribution

Salak comes from Indonesia (Java and Sumatra). Salak is cultivated in Thailand, Malaysia and Indonesia. Salak has also spread to the Philippines, Papua New Guinea, Queensland (Australia) and also Fiji. In Indonesia, there are approximately 20 well-known species differentiated according to the place of origin such as sidempuan salak from North Sumatra, condet salak from Jakarta, pondoh salak from Yogyakarta.

  • Seeds 1-3 grains, brown to black. hard.
