Rane fern is widely distributed in tropical East Africa, India, and Indonesia. This type of fern can be planted as an ornamental plant because of its beautiful and unique shape. In some areas, rane nails can be consumed cooked or eaten directly as a vegetable, or pounded to make chili sauce mixed with betel. Apart from being a vegetable, rane fern is also a plant that is widely used as an ingredient in traditional medicine in several areas. In a study, it was stated that the people of Wonosobo had used rane nails as a medicine for heart disease and stroke, while the people of Banjarmasin used it as a medicine for malaria.
