Syzygium aromaticum Distribution

A plant native to the Maluku Islands (Ternate and Tidore) and known to explorers as Spice Island. The French succeeded in cultivating it in Mauritius. Clove cultivation spread to Guyana, Brasilia, and Zanzibar. Cloves are often used as a spice in various dishes. Cloves also have health benefits.
Agroecology of Syzygium aromaticum
It grows ideally in tropical areas with an altitude of 0-900 m above sea level, rainfall between 1,500-2,500 mm/year or 2,500-3,500 mm/year with dry months of less than 2 months. Soil types are andosol, latosol, red yellow podzolic, soil pH 5.5-6.5. Air temperature 22-28 �C.
